My interest in photography started in high school with me being on the yearbook staff since tenth
grade. Shortly after graduating, I enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was assigned as a photographer to the
Seabees, which are the Navy’s Mobile Construction Battalions (check out the old black & white movie
“The Fighting Seabees“ with John Wayne). There I took photos for operation reports and our battalion’s
newspaper. After being Honorably Discharged, and using my G.I. Bill benefits, I attended the State
University of NY at Fashion Institute of Technology, graduating Cum Laude with an Associate of
Applied Science degree in Fashion and Advertising Photography.
After graduating FIT, I accepted a position with Lynn Pelham Photography in Miami, Florida. Lynn had
photographed for Life and Look magazines, and introduced me to magazine photography doing
assignments for People, US, Sports Illustrated, Smithsonian and other magazines, as well as
assignments in advertising, corporate, portrait, and public relations photography.
After some time I began doing freelance photography as well as some teaching at a local photography
trade school. Returning to New York, I accepted a part-time position with the State University of NY at
Farmingdale in their Public Relations department. Additionally I was hired by a NY State Assemblyman
doing his political photography. Eventually I migrated into Celebrity Photography, which accounts for a
good part of my business today. Currently, WireImage.com (Getty Images) is my sales agent.
My photographs are published in the U.S. and abroad in celebrity-type magazines and television
shows. With the introduction of MiniDV in 1996, I started to shoot video of celebrities, which have
been used on TV shows such as Access Hollywood, Extra, Inside Edition, Entertainment Tonight, The
Insider, Hard Copy, Oprah Winfrey; and celebrity documentaries on VH1, A&E, TLC and others..
Ultimately I have gained immeasurable experience in many different aspects of photography and
video.
Teaching is still part of my work via private tutoring in Digital Photography and Mac Computer skills.
Regarding Mac Computers, I also offer consulting for people who are new to computers, new to Mac
Computers or having problems. I can set up computers, teach proper computer skills, diagnose and
correct problems, tune up computers, recover lost data, setup data backups, setup networks and
upgrade Ram, Hard Drives and Optical Drives (SuperDrives).
